Day 84 Rainy days and Mondays

23rd October 2017

There are many things that really piss me off. One of these are time wasters.

In my short stay I have experienced the effects these people have on someone trying to make a living as a small business owner.

Although Kelli takes it in her stride as part of the hazards of the type of work she has chosen to do, but there are people on social media who get a kick out of leading people on.

An example is when the promise of a purchase is so strong that you can taste it, only for an excuse to come through later. There are lots of people like Kelli trying to scratch a living, with profit margins so small, some people even have the nerve to haggle!

This is a real insult to the work that is put into these unique pieces, and I have decided to keep a log of these time wasters (much to the disapproval of Kelli), but I want to know how often these people try the same scam.

Okay rant over.

Boy did it rain today, it was just like being in the UK. In a raincoat that I kept here, I found seven dollars. “That’s mine” shouted Kelli, sucking the notes out of my hand before I could close my fingers.

We had to take some of the new things to Hudsonville, and take bits out that had to go to Lakeshore.

We spent a couple of hours moving, and re-moving things around. I had to hang some small picture panels on the wall. The first went okay, but as I banged the nail into the wall for the second, the first fell off and hit the floor. I hoped that time would slow down just enough to avoid the panel getting damaged. No such luck.

Thump! It hit the tiled floor, I quickly grabbed it to inspect the damage. It had landed on a corner, and being made from MDF, had completely crushed. “Shit! will anyone notice?” I was really trying to convince myself.

Kelli noticed, and I grovelled, “I will repair it”.

On the way back we stopped at a huge record store in Granville called “The Corner Record Shop”. That place was filled with used vinyl and CD’s, my idea of heaven.

Kelli found some vinyl, CD’s and cassettes she didn’t have, unfortunately they were all Moody Blues and Justin Hayward, so hurray!
