Day 87 Hair apparent

26th October 2017

There was plenty to do today. The large (Freebie) dresser was sold yesterday, so the race was on to fill the vacant spot.

Top place was the four drawer oak dresser, but it needed two wooden knobs for the top drawer. Kelli had also created something interesting with one of the zombie chairs, but needed me to fit the seat.

I managed to scrounge a couple of knobs from Kelli’s dad, Dave, and got them fitted.

We loaded the truck with the furniture, and food for the journey, and set off.

Dropping stuff off is never simple, it nearly always means a complete re-plan. It’s important that the space always looks fresh. There is a tendency to leave spaces the same, some of the booths look as old as the stuff in it, which is not good retail practice.

I had my hair cut today. I was planning just to let it grow long, I should have realised that the good years for my hair stayed in the sixties, now it’s like the stubble on a goats chin, so I was a bit disillusioned, it began to look lanky and untidy, so I trusted my hair with an American with scissors. Her name was Kailyn, a tall girl with a friendly manner. In England, I have been going to the same hairdresser for over thirty years, so I never had to tell them what I wanted cutting, it was all unsaid, so trying to tell someone different was really hard. There might be a rule that all hairdressers follow, a rule that says, “dispite what the customer thinks they want, do it the way you want, they will never complain”, I guess I would fall into that category.

Just an update to autum, Larry’s tree is quite beautiful.

I am a practical person, I love making things, and especially working with wood. I appreciate good design, music and food.
