Day 1138 On my own

21st September 2020

I had most of the day to myself. Kelli has arranged to meet Greer at Grandville to go round Plato’s Closet. Luck would have it that several bags of old clothes miraculously appeared ready for the trip, but I had other things on my mind.

There was a number of pieces that I wanted to work on to give me time later in the week to start on the patio.

There were tops to stain, a tabletop to stain and I even started on the large dresser that we picked up by the side of the road months ago.

By the time Kelli got back I had done most of the things, and I even cycled to the corner shop to buy an anniversary card.

There was no decent selection available, I was panicking at first thinking I would have to find any that I could alter, although modifying a “Sorry for your loss” would have been challenging. Eventually I found the best of a bad lot, and rode back relieved that I had something.

I stopped for some lunch and tackled a large plate of leftover potato salad, washed down with a bottle of beer. I felt good that I had reduced the container by about one per cent of its volume , another four weeks and it will be gone, then I can start on the pasta salad.

I am a practical person, I love making things, and especially working with wood. I appreciate good design, music and food.
