Day 2842 Kaput

27th May 2025

The shop vac finally bit the dust today. It had been making quite a noise, actually it was louder than the saw. I was using it to collect the sawdust from the saw, which was a lot more convenient than the bag I used for a while.

I had a lot of machining to do, and Kelli was off doing her thing, so a great opportunity to do the noisy work.

At first there was the rumbling and grinding noise, I had ear defenders on, so the full extent wasn’t fully aware, it was the smoke and the smell that alerted me. The rest of the time the sawdust had nowhere to go, except up in the air, over me or out through the spout and onto the floor. I did finish my tasks but I had all the cleaning up to do at the end of it.

I suppose I can’t really complain, we’ve had it for many years, and I think Kelli got it from Goodwill.

So now I will have to search for a replacement, I would like the same type as I recently bought new filters and a new hose, maybe I’ll check out Marketplace first.

We sold the dresser that we picked up from the house clearance last Friday. The guy seemed happy with it, I sanded the inside of the drawers and rubbed a beeswax into it to give it a pleasant smell, I hope they are happy with it.
