Day 2843 Go away rain!

28th May 2025

We pulled out both the dressers we finished to take pictures, as we placed the pieces into position, spots of rain started to fall.

Now it was panic stations, trying to move heavy furniture back into the garage and shaking fists at the heavens at the same time.

Those rain drops left marks on the painted surfaces that do not disappear. We normally give painted tops a clear acrylic coating, but on this occasion we wanted to take pictures first, Sod’s Law.

Kelli had to shoot off to return to Plato’s to collect money from items she took there yesterday, so while she was away I took the shop vac apart to see if it could be repaired.

After removing countless plastic mouldings I saw the problem. A bearing supporting the shaft had disintegrated, and the steel fan had shed fins into the housing, probably damaging the coil.

I looked on eBay for a replacement motor but it would have cost $60 plus shipping, so on to Marketplace I went and found a larger one that I will pick up tomorrow.

After repainting the marked top and fronts we called it a day, rain was forecast for the rest of the day.
