Day 3279 It’s all go in Hamilton.

8th August 2026

You know when you wake up on a Saturday with a list of things you want to do, and end up doing none of them? Well today was one of them.

I had planned to work on the garden, but Kelli had other plans.

The lure of a free dresser in Hamilton was too much. After breakfast we set off, it was good to be in our old truck again.

I didn’t realise that Hamilton spread out over a large area, the GPS took us to an address right out in the sticks. The dresser in question was still in the bedroom, and pretty damn heavy.

It turned out that the weight was in the drawers, very solid. The chap helped me carry it out, although he had damaged his shoulder the previous day. Edging it out of the door and down the steps was a bit demanding, but with extra effort we loaded it into the truck with little space to spare.

Now the poor chap could nurse his other shoulder.

I needed to go to Menards for some plywood, Kelli had a package to go UPS so that was the next stop, we finished up at the phone shop to pay my bill.

The roadworks around Holland is so disruptive, most of the direct routes are closed and the diversions take you all around the houses.

We finally got back home about three in the afternoon just in time to feed the dogs, then Kelli wanted to float in the pool.

After that it was walkie time, then dinner, doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun?

I am a practical person, I love making things, and especially working with wood. I appreciate good design, music and food.
